Regional Forum Tackles Immigration Issue
Leadership Greater Washington and its Class of 2007 presented a public forum on "The State of Immigration in Greater Washington: The Challenges and The Opportunities," on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon. The forum was held at Reed Smith Law Firm, 1301 K Street, NW, in downtown Washington, DC.
The forum was a lively panel discussion which featured Corey Stewart, Chair of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, Ron Carlee, County Manager for the Arlington County, Harry Thomas, Jr., DC Council Member for Ward 5 and others who are on the forefront of the immigration debate. The keynote speaker, US Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA), identified immigration issues in Greater Washington and discussed the role Congress is taking to address them.
Audrey Singer, Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, and Milton Coleman, Deputy Managing Editor for The Washington Post, presented data and an overview of the situation in the Greater Washington region.
