Fall Kick-Off Luncheon LGW launches its new year annually with the Fall Kick-Off Luncheon. Amidst networking with regional leaders and representatives from every LGW Class, we welcome the newest members of LGW into membership and kick-off another year in true LGW style. LGW Launches 2012 with Connections and Confetti There was an energy felt throughout the room yesterday afternoon during LGW's 2011 Fall Kick-Off Luncheon. That energy was amplified as the Class of 2011, decked out in silver-sequined gloves, showed the crowd "who's bad" during their conga line entrance into the ballroom and into LGW membership. LGW members and guests were welcomed by Board Chair Julie Rosenthal ('02) and President & CEO Tim Kime ('98) who spoke of the many types of connections created throughout the region as a result of LGW membership: business partnerships, community involvement and political careers - an endless number of these types of successes exist as a result of LGW. Attendees were greeted by Mayor Vincent C. Gray as well as a future political figure - Youth Leadership Greater Washington Class of 2011 alum Marchelle Huggins whose compelling remarks alongside YLGW co-leader Mary Abbajay ('06) motivated the crowd to invest over $23,000 toward future YLGW programming in a matter of minutes. More than 350 of the region's leaders - both LGW members and guests - participated in the annual tradition to launch the year. The Class with the highest attendance was the Class of 2011. Aptly named, the 2011 Fall Kick-Off Luncheon was a huge success and will set the tone for another exciting year of connections, leadership and positive change with LGW at the helm. More pictures of the Luncheon can be found on LGW's Facebook page.
