Leadership Greater Washington's members are dedicated to improving the region, and Leadership Greater Washington is a catalyst to that end. As committed members of the Greater Washington region and members of a program year class, they are exposed to hands-on study and in depth discussion of issues that affect the Greater Washington region.

These programs, held each month, focus on these topics:

  • Affordable Housing
  • Arts
  • Education
  • Health
  • Inclusiveness & Equity
  • Leadership
  • Public Safety
  • Regional Economic Development
The experiential program takes them to places they may never have been, like inside a correctional facility in Prince George's County, a charter school for mentally challenged youth, and the premature baby ward of Southeast Community Hospital, where some infants must overcome drug addiction. They might see issues through lenses that they've never worn before, like learning about youth today through DC's Youth Gang Taskforce, or finding out how it feels to take center stage in a dance or theater performance, even listen as extreme opponents share a civil discussion on the expansion of the Metro Rail in Tysons Corner, Virginia.

And Leadership Greater Washington leaves its mark on them, because as life-long members of the organization, there is a powerful network of resources to turn to for expertise, powerful personal friendships and business relationships. These bonds are fostered through member dinners and annual events like our fall luncheon and spring awards dinner, and the Communities of Interests series that continue to promote discussion and cooperation beyond nontraditional boundaries.

By building relationships with one another, by sharing resources and ideas, and leveraging our influence in both personal and professional ways, Leadership Greater Washington members create a powerful synergy throughout the Greater Washington region. We work to impact public policy, to improve educational and professional opportunity, to develop solutions to community challenges, and to promote diversity. And the benefits - both personal and professional - can be tremendous.

Put simply: We believe in the POWER TO LEAD and the POWER TO CHANGE our community for the better and we want you to be part of that mission.  So join us.
